This is a great read. As someone else mentioned I carry the worry gene also.

On a hike in the Sierra Nevada range I had to cross back and forth across a river on a slippery log. The first time I did so with absolute fear and made it. The second time I felt no fear, slipped and fell in. Thereafter I took each step one at a time and focused until reaching the other side. Yes, several times I fell in and many I didn't, but the important part was that I got rid of fear... on that hiking trail anyway.

I definitely have the worry gene! It sounds to me like you were just doing some careful planning and then double-checking before you and your friend headed out. Not a bad idea! The photos are stunning, as usual.

I can give you tales of ‘disorienteering’. My biggest obstacle is a niggling injury - the voice of doubt distracting from the views.

To be more precise, this picture was taken near Lescun (France) close to the Spanish border.

Wonderful post and very timely. More and more I'm convinced the obstacle is the path. Whether hiking and physically challenged by the trail or my own shortcomings or tearing through life in the fast lane it is apparent the trail is no coincidence. If we can be of good cheer and offer good times while we are getting there all the better. However and with whatever we share it is a good and great thing. Our old groaning world is stressing us out in various ways. By keeping a steady course with sure and steady hands, remaining grounded we are getting there. We can be certain the views will be incredible. Thanks!
