Loved the article and video, Cole. My buddies and I climbed a lot of mountains when I lived in Colorado (1995-2003). I worked on several CFI projects, even wondering if we were doing the right thing (apparently we were). Hiking 14ers seemed to be taking off around the time I moved. When I moved to the Bay Area, one of the trails cost $100 and it was overrun. I missed the freedom of CO. I hope it remains unregulated.

So many memories come up from your piece Cole. Hand over hand climbing up a screw field on Mt. Wilson near Telluride. Getting caught in a lightning storm above tree line on Mt. Holy Cross (rookie mistake), standing over the vertigo-inducing drop off of Uncompahgre with my golden retrievers, breaking above the cloud layer at Jackson Hole then dropping back in.

Wow...thank you.

It’s just as enjoyable reading a second time! With your words, I can picture myself on the trail. Nice job, as always!
