Love it. There’s something to unpack about being (identity) rather than doing (achieving goals). Planning to trek to Everest Base Camp had started to fill me with dread. Since I have been thinking about going for a walk in Nepal, I’m enjoying hiking again!

This is a great exercise, thanks Cole! It helped me clarify why I've been dreading sitting down to write lately.

I underwent a similar journey. It took about ten years but I eventually brought the zombie back to life.

The greater threat are zombie lives.

I think this is what happens if you're overrun by many zombie hobbies

Wow, I’ve been mulling over my own zombie hobby recently, and I’ve got a fourth question to add: What’s it costing me? (In both the literal and psychic sense, in my case.) Thanks for the food for thought, looking forward to that next piece.

Thanks for reading! Contemplated adding that fourth question you mentioned but the reason I stuck with 3 is because these focus on your alignment. Where you were, where you are, and where you're going.

Outside the context of this article, everyone should absolutely be considering your question, how much is it costing you. Not just money, either. There's an opportunity cost. If you're doing one thing that makes you feel miserable, you have less time to do something else that may make you feel happy!

My hobby (track driving) is expensive, but it’s also filled with a bunch of weird status signaling behavior (better car, faster times, etc.) that start to take a psychic toll.

That definitely sounds like an expensive hobby lol. I can see how in a world like that, it's easy to get bogged down by the minutia. You definitely have to make sure you're still getting your enjoyment out of it.
